Working groups

Campus Campaigns:
We coordinate existing national and campus campaigns by facilitating
the sharing of resources and establishing collaborative networks for
allies of UAEM.

Current projects include:
- Academics for Access website
- Aggregate drug biographies into an accessible compound library
- Establish a centralized database of A2M powerpoint and presentation notes
- Make the many UAEM documents more accessible to chapter members
- Promote north-south collaboration by developing a global network of
research labs

Empowerment:
We create and maintains tools that help students to successfully begin
and lead effective chapters.

Current projects include:
-Quarterly chapter newsletter
-Annual conference organizing
-Global Access to Medicines Month organizing
-Maintenance and creation of new tools for chapters on uaem.org's
"Chapter Resources Page"
-National and international chapter outreach and communications

Metrics:
We develop new metrics for the evaluation of university technology
transfer in order to establish benchmarks for patenting and licensing
strategies.

Current projects include:
-Revising current metrics for next years survey
-Sending out new survey and ensuring follow-up from local chapters and
universities
-Publishing lat years survey as a UAEM report as well as quant/qual analysis
-Press on new metrics in general
-Develop larger strategy plan for what to do with metrics going forward

Policy:
We work to increase access to essential medicines through policy-based
initiatives.

Current projects include:
-NIH access campaign
-Patent pool/UNITAID
-UAEM policy handbook

Science, Innovation & Neglected Disease:
We work to increase innovation, availability and access to neglected
tropical disease diagnostics and therapeutics for marginalized
populations.

Current projects include:
-Neglected Tropical Diseases Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC)
modules for distribution to health care providers in the developing
world.
-Chagas disease education and drug accessibility program in North America
-Drug Bios project in collaboration with UNITAID to increase
antiretrovirals in the UNITAID patent pool.
-International Neglected Disease Symposium organizing
-Neglected Diseases publications: Withdrawal of HINARI academic journal access in emerging countries
